It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lota Elizabeth Charles (Houston, Texas), who passed away on July 1, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her spouse A. C. Charles; her parents, Author McCullough and Maggie McCullough; and her siblings, Author (Olle), Ed (Helen), Jim McCullough, Sally Norman (John) and Hester Blake (Herman).
She is survived by : her children, Lota Elizabeth, Dianna Phillips (Roy), Debra Jefferson (Donald) and Andrew Charles (Effie); her grandchildren, LeRoy Phillips (Markita), Deria Hill (Jason), Ashley Williams (Troy), Andrew Charles (Erin), Damian Charles (Samantha), Charleston Phillips (Zelma), Cory Charles (Jaliylah) and Kaelynn Hill; and her godson Clifford Deese (Patricia). She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 9th 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Salem Baptist Church (314 E 33rd St, Houston, TX 77018). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 9th 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, July 9th 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Carl Barnes Funeral Home (8401 Wheatley St, Houston, TX 77088).
