Woodlands-based Excelerate Energy made a $30,000 donation to The Woodlands Family YMCA, according to a company-issued press release.
Excelerate explained in the release that the donation will go toward the YMCA’s Mobile Makerspace, a traveling technology laboratory that brings computer-related programs to children throughout Montgomery County. The company and the YMCA have been partners since 2007, the release said.
“We are proud to partner with the YMCA in their effort to educate and empower today’s youth to solve tomorrow’s problems," Excelerate President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steven Kobos said in the release. "The Woodlands is home to our corporate headquarters, and we strive to be good neighbors wherever we operate.”
According to Excelerate, it's committed to supporting nonprofits whose work aligns with at least one of the company's corporate social responsibility focus areas, which are health, education and climate.
“Our core values of stewardship, accountability, improvement and leadership (SAIL) guide us in all that we do,” Amy Thompson, the company's executive vice president and chief human resources officer, said in the release. “We encourage our employees to strengthen the health and prosperity of the communities where they live and work.”
Excelerate, which was founded by George B. Kaiser in 2003, explains on its website that it specializes in "delivering streamlined, reliable energy solutions."
"Our experienced team and proven LNG solutions make us the market leader and a trusted partner for countries who seek to improve their access to energy," the company said.
