A new Houston sports bar that seeks to capitalize on the pickleball craze sweeping across the U.S. is slated to open in the fall, according to a report from Houston CBS affiliate KHOU.

KHOU reported that PKL Social will take up residence in the city's Washington Corridor neighborhood.

The establishment is right next to FM Kitchen and Bar, and one of the latter's operating partners, Jason Mok, is a self-professed enthusiast of the game, per the station.

"I haven't put down a paddle since I heard about it," Mok said, KHOU reported. "It is easy for me to sell because I love it."

The latest pickleball-centric business to open in Houston, PKL Social will have 10,000 square feet of patio space in addition to four pickleball courts, per KHOU.

Customers will be able to dine on FM's most popular food menu items as well, according to the station.

PKL Social joins Bumpy Pickle as Bayou City havens for pickleball lovers.

Greater Houston Pickleball Association (GHPA) President Terry Stone told KHOU that the game isn't just picking up steam in America but around the world, too.

"It is blooming everywhere, worldwide," Stone said in the report.

According to the USA Pickleball Association's website, pickleball borrows elements from tennis, badminton and pingpong.

The GHPA hopes to bring exposure to Houston's newfound love of pickleball by bringing a professional pickleball tournament to town in October, likely around the time PKL Social opens its doors, KHOU reported.

"Let me tell you, if we make that happen, it is going to blow up," Stone said, per the station.
