Officials with George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) said that a $1.3 billion construction project is moving along but advised passengers to take precautions as traffic associated with the work continues to be a problem, Houston-based media outlets reported.

Passenger Ali Haggaz alluded the changes put a person's patience to the test.

“Hectic!" Haggaz told Houston NBC affiliate KPRC. "Very, very hectic."

KPRC reported that among the improvements made to IAH is a newly opened fourth lane in the arrival zone at Terminal E, which is still under construction.

“It’s not 100% better, but it’s an improvement," traveler Deanna Freeman told the station.

Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported that the airport anticipates more changes through at least November.

Later this month, roadway capacity will increase at the east entrance to the Central Terminal Area while July will see the reopening of the original departures ramp at Terminal C and more beneficial changes to motorists on South Terminal Road, the station reported.

IAH officials have also recommended travelers to seek out alternate parking spots with the airport's garages reaching or flirting with full capacity, Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

The IAH official Twitter account said that each terminal garage was 100% full and was opening to online reservations on Tuesday (June 7), according to KTRK.
