A joyous reunion has taken place between a dog who fell overboard in Galveston Bay late last month and her owner, according to a report from Houston FOX affiliate KRIV.
Shrimp boat captain Keith "Kiwi" Soffes told the station he and Monster are inseparable and it devastated him when his canine buddy went missing.
Soffes had mourned Monster's loss, but unbeknownst to him, his loyal four-legged companion swam several miles to shore and ended up at a trailer park, KRIV reported.
In what was a longshot, Soffes turned to Facebook in hopes someone may had seen Monster, according to KRIV.
"I searched and searched; hopefully somebody picked her up," the captain said in a post.
The post fortunately paid off.
KRIV reported that Soffes couldn't stop crying as he and Monster saw each other again after about a week.
The dog, in turn, made up for lost time by giving what the station reported are Monster kisses.
"I just really want to thank everybody that helped me find Monster," Soffes wrote in a Facebook post. "And most of all God for answering so many prayers."
Their painful time apart taught Soffes a very valuable lesson so he'll have Monster wear a life jacket and a tracking device the next time the two set sail again, per KRIV.
