The 84th episode of the Plugged In Podcast featured Benny Peiser and Francis Menton as guests discussing net zero energy policies. The episode aired March 30.
Peiser is the director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation and Menton is the founder of the Manhattan Contrarian. The podcast is hosted by the website of the Institute for Energy Research, which promotes a "scholarly" approach to energy issues as well as the free market. The subject of this episode was what the analysts believe the impact of net zero energy policies will be on energy prices in Europe, as well as what regions of the U.S. are beginning to adopt such policies.
"Governments have been claiming that these policies would lower costs and would make life much better for people and economies and of course the opposite has been happening," Peiser said during the podcast.
Menton discussed the practicality of abandoning fossil fuels entirely.
"That's kind of not so easy and extremely costly," Menton said. "The more I studied up on it, the more I came to think that first of all, the global warming scare was overhyped. And second of all, that the proposal solutions were completely unworkable."
