Reliant and the Houston Astros have entered into a new multi-year partnership. According to a press release, Reliant, which is part of NRG Energy, has been named the official energy provider of the Astros.

"Reliant is proud to be the official energy provider of the @astros and to help keep our hometown team fully charged from the first pitch to the last out," Reliant tweeted.

The release said that customers who sign up for the new Reliant Astros Plan will receive a low electricity price for the duration of their term in addition to a $100 Astros gift card that can be used to purchase tickets, team gear and concessions. Customers will also be invited to a unique Astros autograph session.

Reliant will also join the Astros' roster of community leaders, the release said.

The Astros Foundation and Reliant are establishing the new Slide Into Summer Reading program in an effort to foster a love of reading and prevent summer literacy loss among predominately younger and low-income students, according to the release.

Reliant will have 13 charging stations throughout Minute Maid Park, the company said.

Fans will be able to rent a free power pack to charge their devices during games.

"As a native Houstonian, it’s an honor for Reliant to be named the official energy provider to our beloved hometown Astros,” Reliant president Elizabeth Killinger said, according to the release. "We share a strong commitment to Houston and fans everywhere. I am excited about the enhancements we are making to power the game and look forward to what we’ll accomplish together.”

The Astros, who clinched their third American League pennant in five years last year, begin their 2022 campaign in Anaheim, California, against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday (April 7).
