Houston-based Molina Healthcare of Texas formed a partnership with New York City-based medical platform MedArrive earlier this month to serve Molina's at-risk members in the Greater Houston area, according to a press release.

The release said the community partnership seeks to help vulnerable and hard-to-reach clients with a complex health care system. According to Molina plan president Chris Coffey, the company and MedArrive made it a goal to not have members resort to heading to the emergency room.

“Managing and navigating the intricacies of health care can be daunting, especially for underserved or elderly populations," Coffey said in the release. "Our partnership with MedArrive will better connect vulnerable members with the resources they need to improve their health outcomes while reducing visits to emergency rooms.”

The release said the new mobile-integrated health care program enables pre-identified Molina Texas Medicaid members to reach out to MedArrive’s field provider network of health care professionals including first responders.

These field providers will provide forms of care such as in-home health care services, diagnostics and health assessments.

According to the release, physician-led telemedicine services will be necessary in the event members require higher-acuity care.

Field providers and case management teams will also assist patients with transportation, nutrition, behavioral health needs and mobility challenges.

“We’re incredibly proud of the success our collaboration with Molina has produced during this pilot program, and we look forward to scaling it throughout Houston and beyond,” MedArrive co-founder and CEO Dan Trigub said in the release.

MedArrive field provider Keith Bailey said in the release that the partnership allows him to interact with Molina clients more.

“As a fire captain, I would only see patients on calls in their immediate crisis,” Bailey, formerly of the Houston Fire Department, said in the release. “Now I am able to develop a relationship with Molina members and really work to help improve their health outcomes."
