Just two months following the Astroworld festival tragedy that claimed the lives of 10 people, beleaguered rapper Travis Scott and his Cactus Jack Foundation hosted their second annual toy drive.

“Cactus Jack Foundation Second Annual Toy Drive is open now,” the foundation's Instagram post read. “One toy per child, first come first serve.”

The 30-year-old rapper, who now finds himself in the middle of a public controversy questioning his actions during the festival, donated more than 2,000 presents to children from struggling families in the city two days before Christmas.

The presents were to be distributed across six Houston Housing Authority complexes, the NYP reports. Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, has kept a low profile since the Nov. 5 tragedy.

Since the deadly occurrence, Scott has spoken publicly once regarding the matter, during an interview with Charlamagne tha God.

“It wasn’t really until, like, minutes until the press conference until I figured out exactly what happened,” he said. “Even after the show, you’re just kinda hearing things but I didn’t know the exact details until minutes before the press conference. And even at that moment, you’re just like, wait, what?”

The beleaguered rapper is also contributing to various initiatives prioritizing the development of improved safety measures for future concerts in the U.S. The organization collaborating with his team represents the interests of more than 1,400 cities across the country as it seeks to “aggressively focus on new technologies and innovations that offer ways to address these challenges.”

While he addressed the backlash he received, he assumed responsibility for the role he played in the event.

“I feel like it comes with being in a seat and I feel like they’re pointing the finger at me because it’s my festival,” Scott continued. “Like I said before, I feel like I can kind of take that, in a sense, because my whole career I feel like people have been trying to do that.”
