Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George has shared his feelings about last week’s shooting that left four students dead at Oxford High School in Michigan.
George posted on Twitter that he was thinking of all those affected by the school shooting and offered his prayers.
"[Prayers] to the families, students, teachers and school faculty who lost a loved one, friend or colleague, our heartfelt prayers go out to those who lost their lives and who were injured during the Michigan high school shooting (last week)," he wrote.
The Detroit News reported that the suspect is a 15-year-old student who started shooting during the school day on Nov. 30, initially killing three students and a fourth student later dying from his injuries.
All events scheduled at Oxford High School have been canceled until further notice, according to the school’s website.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office stated that the victims ranged in age from 14 to 17. Among the dead were Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Tate Myre, 16; and Justin Schilling, 17, according to The Detroit News. Schilling was the student who succumbed from his injuries on the morning of Dec. 1.
The Detroit News reported that the White House has offered aid to state and law enforcement personnel.
“Oakland Schools is deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at Oxford High School. Our heart breaks for the students, teachers, staff and families touched by this tragedy,” said Oakland Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook Robinson. “The safety and security of students and staff is the priority of Oakland Schools and the 28 member districts that we serve. Oakland Schools has been made aware of social media posts claiming a copycat shooting is planned for other schools. Please know that we are taking this matter seriously and we are working with local law enforcement. Oakland Schools has coordinated grief counseling support and mental health resources to help students, teachers and staff maneuver the days ahead.”
