The family of the youngest victim in the Astroworld Festival tragedy that occurred last month declined to accept an offer from rapper Travis Scott to pay for funeral expenses.

Scott was headlining his signature festival when nine-year-old Ezra Blount suffered injuries from a surge in the crowd and later died at a local hospital.

USA Today reported that family attorney Bob Hilliard told the lawyers who represented Scott that he believed Scott needed to acknowledge that he was partially responsible for the events that unfolded.

"The loss of a child is like a faucet of unimaginable pain that has no off handle," Hilliard wrote. "Your client’s offer is declined. I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy."

Ezra attended the event with his dad, Treston, and was a fan of the rapper’s music, according to USA Today. He ended up being the youngest and 10th person that died as result of crowd surge when Scott took the stage on Nov. 5.

The news outlet stated that he sustained injuries to his heart, lungs and brain and was placed in a medically induced coma after being taken to a local hospital. His death came on the heels of 23-year-old Texas A&M student Bharti Shahani succumbing to her injuries.

"They were expecting to come and have a good time with each other, bond as father and son, and it turned into a tragic event because of the negligence of others," the boy’s grandfather, Bernon Blount, told the Associated Press.

Houston native Megan Thee Stallion canceled her rap concert on Dec. 3 at the city's new 713 Music Hall in honor of the victims, according to Rolling Stone.
