Atlanta won the World Series, and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner lost his wager to Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.

"To the @Braves and Mayor @KeishaBottoms, congratulations #Atlanta on winning your first #WorldSeries since 1995. We will hold up our end of our friendly wager. I hope your team enjoys a taste of #Houston with @SaintArnold, @BloodBrosBBQ and #IrmasSouthwest," Mayor Turner said in a tweet.

Mayor Lance Bottom took to social media to express her excitement regarding the team's win.

"The @Braves win the WORLD SERIES!" she tweeted.

This was probably Freddie Freeman's last game with Atlanta. Freddie is the longest-serving member of the team.

"This city has been hungry for a championship for so long. I cannot wait to see the crowds in the next couple days when we get back home. I'm just so thankful that we were able to bring them home a championship," Freeman said.

The Braves defeated the Astros 7-0 in Game 6 of the 2021 Fall Classic. After failing to close out Houston in Game 5 at Truist Park in Cobb County, the team went on an offensive onslaught 800 miles away at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros couldn't continue the momentum spurred by their come-from-behind win. They returned home to have their offense sputter and pitching overwhelmed.

Turner hailed the Astros for what they've done for Houston.

He tweeted, "To our @astros, thank you for giving our city something to root for. This team was truly fun to watch the entire season and gave our city an incredible uplift in spirit and optimism many needed. They played with heart and pride."
