Ruby Rose Murrell

APRIL 4, 1925 – OCTOBER 29, 2021

Ruby Rose (Meaux) Murrell of Houston, Texas went to be with our Lord on Friday, October 29, 2021, peacefully, in her home. She was born to Oza Suire Meaux and Otto Meaux on April 4, 1925 in Kaplan, Louisiana, the youngest of seven children.

While her children were young, she was a dedicated at-home mom and returned back to work when her children were older. Ruby was a devoted member and one of the original parishioners of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston, TX. Ruby was an excellent seamstress, and loved to crochet. She made an excellent seafood gumbo and shrimp creole. She loved to go to the nearby community center weekly, where she enjoyed line-dancing and socializing with friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband-Donald Murrell, her parents-Oza and Otto Meaux, her brother-Robert Meaux, and her sisters-Angele, Eve, Rena, Nelia, and Ozite. Surviving her are her children Colleen Tucker (David), Don Murrell (Linda) and Nancy Kerr. She leaves her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Wendy), Amanda Schumacher (Dave) Victoria Kerr-Solarski (Will), Amy Kiemsteadt (Clint), Andy Murrell (Jo Keena), Sarah Smith (Tim) and Kate Tucker; and great-grandchildren: Angelle and Jacob Smith; Kennedy, Graham, and Luke Kiemsteadt; Drew Murrell; Emma, Charlie, Jonathan Smith; and Luke, Dylan, and Ryan Schumacher.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Dr., Houston, Texas 77080. The Rite of Committal will follow at 11:45 a.m. in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.

Following the Committal service a reception with the family will be held back at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
