Richard Cazares

1931-2021

Richard Cazares, 90, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2021.

He was born in Houston, Texas, to Manuel and Juliana Cazares. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, joined the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Corporal during the Korean War. While working for Western Electric Company he studied and achieved his Cosmetology and Barber licenses. After retiring from Lucent (Western Electric), he studied and achieved his Real Estate license, worked as a courier for SEI before being appointed to the Appraisal Review Board and worked with the Harris County Appraisal District. 

Richard was Past-President of Club Verde Mar, a member of L.U.L.A.C., The Junior Chamber of Commerce, Telephone Pioneers of America, Jefferson Davis High School Alumni Club and St. Patrick's Catholic Church Young at Heart Club. He volunteered at Catholic Charities and St. Joseph Hospital. He exuberantly enjoyed each opportunity to dance the Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Salsa, Cumbia and Boleros. His zest for dance will be greatly missed.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Domingo and Conrad, sisters-in-law Margaret Cazares and Gloria Montalvo Cazares, and nephew Rudy Cazares. He is survived by his loving wife, Genevive; children Sylvia and Jerome; grandson Jerome Dominic Cazares; great-grandchildren Evan, Braeden, Landen, and Anasten Genevieve; and brother Manuel Cazares, Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co., 1200 W. 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018.
