Mildred "Millie" Derrick Brown

1943-2021

Mildred "Millie" Derrick Brown, 77, passed away on October 7, 2021. She was the wife of James Doyle Brown. They were happily married for over 55 years. Throughout their marriage, they lived in South Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Born on November 30, 1943 in South Carolina, she was the daughter of William Howard Derrick and Annell Barnhill Derrick. She received her Bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University of South Carolina She began her career with the Internal Revenue Service before transitioning to the joy of her life - being a mother. She spent many hours volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Tri-City Churches Resale Shop, St. Martin's Lutheran Church, and countless PTA/school events.

She is survived by her husband, James Doyle Brown; her siblings, Bennie A. Derrick and Sarah Derrick Cheesman; her children, Dina Brown Sherwood and Jason Derrick Brown; her grandchildren, Stephen Alexander Griffin and Giulia Guerrieri Brown; and her great granddaughter Clementine Allison Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Karen Denise Brown.

The memorial service will be held on October 30, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 1123 Burney Road, Sugar Land, TX 77498. Millie donated her body to Baylor College of Medicine. Her ashes will be returned and combined with those of daughter, Karen.
