Gov. Greg Abbott recently reappointed Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Landry's food chain and the Houston Rockets, to the University of Houston (UH) System Board of Regents for another term, according to a press release from the Office of the Texas Governor.

This marks Fertitta's third six-year term on the board of directors.

"He is considered one of the foremost authorities in the restaurant, gaming, entertainment and hospitality industries and is a New York Times Best Selling Author of the business book, 'Shut up and Listen,'" according to a press release.

Fertitta was first appointed to the board by Gov. Rick Perry in 2009 and served until his term expired in 2015, according to the University of Houston System's website.

Abbott then reappointed him to a second term, which ended in August of this year. In 2014, Fertitta was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and has held the position ever since.

He is also a member of the boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, Central Houston, Inc. and the Metropolitan Houston Better Business Bureau, Inc.

Additionally, Fertitta serves as a lifetime executive committee and board member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

He attended UH's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 2004.

Abbott also reappointed board members Beth Madison and Rickey Raven.
