Houston Police arrested a man who allegedly threatened to blow up Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, during the American League Championship playoff series, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The incident happened Oct. 16, the story said. Police received a call about a man who was reportedly suicidal, Assistant Chief James Jones told the Chronicle.
When police arrived, the man took off in his truck and led police on a two-hour chase, Jones said. During the chase, the man was waving a gun and calling police dispatchers telling them he had a bomb in his truck and was going to blow up the park during Game 2 of the American League Championship series, the story said.
Police finally turned off their emergency lights and talked the man into slowing down. They ran his truck off the road in 1500 block of Elliot Street in the Greater Eastwood Area when he reached the speed of about 10 mph and arrested him with the help of a K-9 unit, Jones said.
He was charged with evading arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, Jones said.
He also had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
No explosives were discovered in the truck, the Chronicle reported.
