David Lee Jacobs
1945-2021
Dr. David Lee Jacobs, Professor Emeritus at the University of Houston, passed away on 7 September in the peace and comfort of his home in Los Angeles, California.
Over the course of his 40-year academic career, Dr. Jacobs made major contributions to the study of and support for photography and the fine arts, serving as the editor of the Society for Photographic Education's journal Exposure and, as the Chairman of the University of Houston's Department of Art, mentoring young artists and raising financial support for the advancement of photography.
He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his intellectual curiosity, love of music, and appreciation for the natural world. Dr. Jacobs is survived by his widow Barbara, son Benjamin, nephew Todd, and niece Courtney.
