George Bush Intercontinental Airport was awarded the honor of the cleanest United States airport at the Skytrax 2021 World Airport Awards, according to an August release from Houston Airports.
This came as the airport also received recognition as the highest ranking among U.S. airports in the World’s Top 100 Airports category, the release states.
“This is recognition for the fact that United Airlines and George Bush Intercontinental Airport make the health, safety and comfort of their customers and employees a top priority,” CEO and Partner of Professional Janitorial Service (PJS) Houston Floyd Mahanay told the Houston Daily.
PJS provides cleaning services to Bush airport and United Airlines.
“We are proud to have been the cleaning partner for United Airlines at IAH for five years," Mahanay said.
Houston-based PJS played a large role in Bush's recent award.
"We are particularly proud to have helped them win this award during the COVID era, which makes cleanliness and sanitation even more important," Mahanay added.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards rankings are based on an annual airport customer survey for the Passenger’s Choice Awards that was conducted from August 2020 until July 2021.
According to the the PJS website, the company has cleaned other United Airlines facilities for more than 20 years.
On Sept. 17 United Airlines had a reception for the PJS airport staff and gave PJS recognition for helping IAH win the award.
