Larry M Nicastro
October 19, 1938 – September 12, 2021
Lawrence (Larry) Michael Nicastro, Jr. of Houston, Texas, peacefully passed away on September 12, 2021 at the age of 83. He was born on October 19, 1938. Larry was the son of Lorenzo (Larry) Nicastro, Sr. and Josephine Marie Raia Nicastro. Larry met Gayle Francis Burns in high school, his wife who predeceased him in 1995. Larry is survived by his daughters, Lisa Ann Kelly, Jo Marie Johnson (predeceased by her husband Fred Victor Johnson), his son Lance Michael Nicastro and wife Nicole Nicastro; his grandchildren, Tyler Michael Johnson, Christian Dee Kelly, Cole Matthew Johnson, Dillon Jake Nicastro, Kristina Ashley Kerr, grand dog, Tux Johnson; his Brother Joseph Michael Nicastro; his sister Julia Adele Nicastro.
Larry attended school in Houston at, Queen of Peace Catholic School, Jackson Jr. High School, Allen Academy and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Larry also attended San Jacinto Jr. College drafting school and became a skilled draftsman working for Walter Kidde, Inc. Early 60’s, Larry started a new career as a partner in establishing the Nicastro family business of real estate and Ritzee Drive-Ins. Larry was an avid hunter and due to his love of cooking Larry was always the “head chef” of the camp sites. Larry loved his hunting trips with his son Lance. He remained an entrepreneur throughout his life, opening Nicki’s Day Care of 25 years where he and Gayle raised and nurtured many children as if they were their own. Upon retirement, Larry spent countless hours Ubering and attending his grandson’s extracurricular activities. Larry was known by his family and beloved friends as; Dad, Gramps, Grumps and Uncle, but most recognized him by “Mr. Nic”. Larry’s signature white towel hung over his shoulder which magically turned into a bib at dinner time. Larry lived a very simple life. He was happy with no thrills and frills and was most happy when he had his coffee in hand while at family gatherings. He loved teaching and sharing his life stories with his grandsons. The grandsons loved to hear the stories just as much as Larry loved to tell the stories. Larry’s devotion and love for his grandsons was nothing anyone could imagine. Our Dad was a beloved father, he taught his children how to deal with real-life issues in a commonsense approach, the value of a dollar and the joy of a father showing great pride for his children and grandchildren. In the words of Albert Einstein, “Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and younger generation. For they are us”. Dad, you will never be forgotten; you live on in us.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
