Sara Ann Menefee Cook
1935-2021
Sara Ann Menefee Cook was born on January 5, 1935 to Henry Earl and Sara Thames Menefee. She passed away on August 25, 2021. There never was a better daughter, wife, Mom or Nana.
She is survived by her two daughters and their families: Holly and Rick Watson and daughter Sam, and Melissa and Matt Hayslip and sons Zachary and Zane, all of Houston and Sugar Land, as well as numerous cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles. Charles and Ann were members of Houston's First Baptist Church for decades, and she loved her Sunday School class.
Ann graduated from Beaumont High and went to work as a legal secretary at Gulf States. After staying home to raise her girls for a while, including in Mandeville, Louisiana, she went back to work. This was the advent of the desktop computer age, and Ann helped train attorneys and secretaries in all of Vinson & Elkins' US offices. Eventually, despite having no college degree, she became, with her dear friend Mary Lou Chollar, the manager of the document production specialists until her retirement.
Her family and friends will remember Ann's sweet, sweet spirit and her steadfast faith in Christ, while her grandchildren will remember how much she adored them.
We are comforted by the knowledge that she is now with Charles and the Lord. We wish we could have had her longer, but we know how blessed we are to have had her in the first place.
A celebration of her life will be held at a date to be determined.
