In a new study from Niche, Rice University in Houston ranked in the top 10 of its 2022 Best Colleges in America list.
Receiving an overall score of A-plus, Niche ranked Rice University at No. 7 on their list of Best Colleges in America for the year 2022, making it the best ranked college in Texas.
“Our team recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic, especially as new variants such as the delta variant arise, will continue to have an outsize impact on the college admissions process this year. We wanted to make sure our 2022 rankings reflect the current reality," said CEO and Niche founder Luke Skurman to Houston Business Journal.
According to HBJ, Rice has a full-time enrollment of 3,942 undergraduate students with a 9% acceptance rate and a yearly net tuition cost of $20,335, which is the average after financial aid has been factored in. Niche's criteria for their ranks were based on academics, diversity, athletics, value, campus and party scene in addition to other factors.
Rice College is known for its kinesiology and physical therapy, sports management and architecture programs, and consistently ranks best in the country for the quality of education provided within these fields, according to Houstonia Magazine.
Niche's list of colleges includes a number of Ivy League schools, as well as other well-known and acclaimed institutions. Massachusetts Institute of Technology was listed at No. 1, while Harvard University and Yale University rounded out the top three of the list, according to Houstonia Magazine.
Niche also produced a top-10 list of schools specifically in Texas, with Rice University topping the list at No. 1, and other schools such as the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Southern Methodist University and Trinity University making the list as well.
Rice University is located in Houston's Museum District and annually attracts students from across the globe for the quality of education and exceptional location.
