Trae tha Truth, a local Houston rapper, recently opened an ice cream shop that employs individuals with special needs as part of larger celebrations for Trae Day.

Truth opened the Howdy Homemade Ice Cream Shop with Mayor Sylvester Turner in attendance.

"I was honored to kick off #TraeDay with @howdyhomemade's newest location grand opening in our region," Turner said in a tweet about the grand opening. "What's special about this ice cream shop and the other locations is its mission to provide employment for individuals with special needs. Trae's cinnamon ice cream was a treat."

The shop is located at 20920 Katy Freeway near Westgreen, ABC 13 reported. Truth opened the shop in partnership with Roderick Batson.

"This is special because we will employ special needs young adults and give them an opportunity to work and experience and have a chance to be supported!! We hope to change the way the world looks at everyone," Truth said in a post to Instagram leading up to the grand opening. "Follow @howdyhomemadekaty. The mission is to inspire and bless others with our blessings!!!"

In addition to the grand opening of the shop, Truth also announced two new ice cream flavors, Trae Funnel Cake and Trae Cinnamon World, which will be served exclusively at his Howdy Homemade franchise.
