Gordon Jensen Reid, Jr.

December 30, 1934 – July 12, 2021

Gordon Jensen Reid, Jr. passed away on July 12, 2021, at his home in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 86. He was born December 30, 1934, in Akron, Ohio to the late Gordon Sr. and Pyretta. Gordon enlisted in the US Army in 1954 at the age of 19 and served in the 11th Transportation Port Battalion stationed in France. He received an honorable discharge in 1957 and served in the US Army Reserves until 1962.

He joined the FBI in 1958. He was assigned to the Cincinnati office, where he met the love of his life Patricia Ann Litmer who also worked with the FBI as a stenographer. They were married on April 18, 1959. His assignments with the FBI spanned 27 years and took his family to numerous locations. He spent time with the Miami Florida, Muskogee Oklahoma, and Los Angeles California field offices before settling in the Houston Texas office. During this time, Gordon and Patricia had 6 children.

After retiring from the FBI, Gordon joined the Federal Home Loan Bank where he was part of a special investigative team during the Savings and Loan Crisis of the 1980s, which was one of the worst financial disasters of the 20th century. He later became a private investigator prior to retirement. Gordon loved watching Ohio State football and was a huge Houston Astros fan, but most importantly, he was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.

He will be missed by his sons Gordon J., III (Kathy), William A. (Kathy), Thomas R. (Elva), and James M. (Heather); 15 grandchildren, Lauren (Reed), Julian, Sarah (Nana), Brittani, Amber (Andrew), Natalie, Matthew, Ashton (Ashley), Kaitlyn, Abraham, Austin, Gavin, Elizabeth, Corbin, and Patricia; and five great-grandchildren.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Patricia; his two daughters, Kathleen Sue Reid, and Linda Marie Powell; and sisters, Pyretta Mary Bohn, and Virginia Stockdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his grandson, Julian Garcia Reid’s benefit fund at Bank of America.
