U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) is remembering police chief John Lindon who died on July 6.

"Heartbroken to hear about Chief John Lindon's passing. John served as chief of police for nine years and on the force for 30 years. He was the driving force behind Conroe PD's new station and partnership with the FBI. Thank you, John, for your service to #TX08," Brady said in a Twitter post.

Lindon passed away from cardiac arrest at his Huntsville residence on July 6 at the age of 71, The Courier of Montgomery County said in an article.

A longtime veteran of the force, Lindon served in various roles at the Conroe Police Department and was witness to its growth in the 1980s and 1990s, The Courier said in an article.

Born on Nov. 28, 1949 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Lindon was a former Marine and a married father of three, according to an obituary in The Huntsville Item.

Lindon retired from the police department in 2003, according to a Chron.com article.

He grew up on his family's dairy farm in Hallett, Oklahoma, and enlisted in the Marine Corp after high school, receiving a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal, according to his obituary.

After retiring from the police department, Lindon and his wife Latrelle moved to Huntsville, Texas, according to his obituary.

He worked for State Parks and Recreation in Texas as a historical interpreter at Washington on the Brazos and site manager of Fanthorp Stagecoach Inn, his obituary said.

He then joined the Texas Historical Society and went on a number of digs after retiring from the State Parks and Recreation in Texas, the article said.
