Adoption fees are waived for furry friends at Harris County Pets through Sunday, July 11.
"If you've been considering adopting a furry friend, now's the time. We're waiving adoption fees and offering three-month complimentary flea medication," Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo wrote in a Twitter post.
And there are other deals too.
During the "Hot Dog and Cool Cat Days of Summer Adoption Event," dog and cat adopters will receive 15% off any heartworm or flea preventative medication, as said on the Harris County Pets Facebook page.
"Fleas and heartworms are always an issue during hot summer months! We have more than 600 cats and dogs so you are sure to find the perfect new family member and keep them protected from fleas and heartworms," said Harris County Pets on Facebook.
Harris County Pets is an open intake, municipal pet adoption and resource center that serves the residents and pets of unincorporated Harris County, as said on its website.
They also offer volunteering options, rehoming, pet licensing and lost and found help.
Harris County Pets is located at 612 Canino Road in Houston.
Hours for adoption are from noon to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday to Sunday.
The shelter has all of its pets available for adoption listed on its website with photos and details.
Adoption fees are usually $80 for puppies, $50 for dogs, $35 for kittens and $20 for cats, as said on the Harris County Pets website.
