Cloy Nathaniel Causey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, son, and brother, passed away on June 21, 2021. Cloy, son of Thomas Cloy and Josephine Raymond Causey, was born in McComb MS on October 23, 1931. He later moved to Jackson MS where he met his future wife, Barbara Bryant, at Church. Upon graduation, Cloy followed his father’s footsteps and worked in the Illinois Central Railroad signal department for two years. He then voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for three years in the Army Security Agency. He married Barbara, his high school sweetheart, prior to being deployed to the Korean War. Upon his return, Cloy and Barbara lived in Warrenton VA until his discharge from the Army. Cloy then enrolled at Mississippi State University in Starkville MS where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, graduating with High Honors in 1958.

Upon graduation, Cloy and Barbara moved to Houston TX in 1958 with their three-week-old baby daughter to begin a career at Texaco. While working there, Cloy attended graduate school part-time at Rice University and was awarded a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1966. Cloy worked for Texaco for 34 years, primarily in geophysical research, operations, and management positions. Upon his retirement from Texaco in 1992, Cloy joined the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) in The Woodlands TX and founded the Energy Research Clearinghouse (ERCH). After a couple of years at HARC, Cloy and Barbara fully retired in The Woodlands where he enjoyed his family, friends, playing golf and bridge, writing limericks, and traveling. His greatest joy was simply being with his family. Cloy was a kind and loving man and will be greatly missed.
