Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner extended a welcome to the Houston Dynamo's and Houston Dash's new majority owner, Ted Segal, in a Twitter post.

"The @HoustonDynamo and @HoustonDash play integral parts to making Houston one of the greatest sports towns in the nation. Today, I am honored to welcome Ted Segal as the majority owner and chairman of the clubs. Welcome to #Houston," Turner said in his Twitter post

Segal will also serve on Major League Soccer's (MLS) Board of Governors.

"As someone with a lifelong passion for soccer, having the opportunity to invest in professional soccer in Houston – a dynamic, diverse and growing city with such a storied history in professional sports is truly exciting," Segal said in a release, as detailed in the Major League Soccer article

Gabriel Brener, Oscar De La Hoya, Ben Guill and James Harden will keep their minority stakes after Segal's acquisition of Houston Dynamo Football Club, as stated in a Major League Soccer article.

Segal runs New York City-based real estate development and financing company EJS Group and he also chairs investment firm Verance Capital, as stated in the Major League Soccer article

The teams' home pitch, BBVA Stadium will remain with leasing rights owned by Segal, an ABC 13 article states.

“The interest and passion for soccer in Houston are clear. The Dynamo and Dash have incredibly devoted fans that have supported championship clubs, Houston is a go-to destination for hosting major international soccer games and there’s a great group of leaders making a strong case for Houston to deservedly serve as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. I am honored to join the club and its great supporters as the sport continues to ascend in the region and throughout the United States," Segal said in a release, as noted in the Major League Soccer article.
