Richard Gerald Haynesworth known to all as "Uncle Dickie"
January 22, 1940 – June 7, 2021
Richard Gerald Haynesworth was born on January 22, 1940, to the union of Joseph Wesley Haynesworth and Ethel Virginia Willis in Youngstown, Ohio, and was the second of four children. He graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1957 and enlisted into the U.S. Air Force shortly after.
After four years, Richard returned from Germany, his first duty assignment, and met Elaine Morton while visiting his family in Chicago, Illinois. The couple shared a yearlong correspondence resulting in their union on October 27, 1962. To this union were born two daughters and two sons.
After 20 years of active duty service as security police, Richard retired from the U.S Air Force and returned to Illinois to be close to family. He continued his law enforcement career at Great Lakes Naval Base, transitioning into the Lake County Sheriff's Department, completing an additional 20 years of service.
In December of 1998, Richard retired for a second time and fully committed himself to serve God. He spent his remaining time doing what he loved most, serving the Lord, traveling with his beloved wife to visit family, and immersing himself in the world of football; GO BUCKS!
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ethel Haynesworth, his brother Joseph Haynesworth, and his sisters Darlene Underwood and Linda Boynton. He departed this life on June 7, 2021, at his home in Panorama Village in the company of his wife Elaine and oldest daughter, Regina. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Elaine, daughters Regina Thurston and Richette Cole, sons Richard Haynsworth, II and Willie Haynesworth. 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of family and friends who affectionately knew him as "Uncle Dickie" are also left to treasure his memory.
Joshua 24:15 "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
