Christine Adams Brunsman

1950-2021

Christine Adams Brunsman, 70, of Houston, passed away June 9, 2021, at her home due to Alzheimer's disease. Chris was born Nov. 30, 1950 in Monroe, La., to Louise and Farrell Adams. A graduate of LSU, she held jobs with several newspapers and school systems.

Chris was a writer and editor at The Daily Iberian newspaper in New Iberia, La., and then an editor for many years at The Sun Herald in Gulfport, Miss., and the suburban Houston Chronicle. 

She taught briefly in Selma, Ala., and later in Aldine ISD. in addition, she was a John Wesley United Methodist Church choir member and Spring Branch ISD volunteer.

She married Steve Brunsman on May 2, 1983, in New Iberia, La. Chris is survived by her husband; two sons, John Westley and Michael McWilliams, sister Lynn Adams and partner, Loren Fredlund; brother Jim Adams and his partner, Jaime Rae; brother Ken Adams; sister-in-law Paula Buchanan and her husband, William Buchanan; and brother-in-law Michael Brunsman and mother-in-law Rose Ann Brunsman. 

She is also survived by her son Michael's fiance, Amanda Garrett, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank caregiver Kelly Callahan; Houston Hospice team, especially, Karla and Patricia,; and the John Wesley United Methodist Care Team..

A service will be held and live streamed from John Wesley United Methodist Church, 5830 Bermuda Dunes Dr., on Wednesday, June 16, at 2 p,m, In lieu of flowers, send memorials to Houston Hospice, the Alzheimer's Association, or Spring Branch Education Foundation.
