Living in an iconic Star Wars villain's helmet may be a dream for some fans of the films, but it very well could be a reality for someone looking for a Houston home with an architectural edge and a multimillion dollar budget.

The home on University Boulevard known as the "Darth Vader House" has hit the market for the first time since it was built, and it's getting a lot of attention in a short amount of time.

"We at HAR.com have had over 400,000 hits on that house, that's a lot," Shannon Cobb Evans, chair of the MLS Advisory Group with the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), told the Houston Daily. "There's a lot of interest."

Cobb Evans has been a realtor for almost four decades and believes a number of factors play into why so many people are clicking on the home, including its out-of-this-world design.

"It's the unique architecture and I also think there is such a following for anything Star Wars," Cobb Evans said.

In speaking with her friends, Cobb Evans said most people just like to look at houses on the market, whether they're ready to buy or not.

"We are at historic low inventory in the market and then mixed with that we have really low interest rates that are continuing to drive the market," she said. "Even post pandemic, people are spending more time in their homes. I think homes have become more important to people."

The Darth Vader house has an asking price of $4.3 million.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom abode was built by a surgeon more than 20 years ago with Darth Vader's helmet as a focal point. It also has a four-car garage.

The increased demand in residential real estate has some worried it could lead into another 2008-like situation.
