Albert George Ollre III

September 12, 1930 – May 19, 2021

Albert George “A.G.” Ollre III, 90, was born September 12, 1930 in Houston, Texas. He went home to his Heavenly Father on May 19, 2021. After graduation from high school, A.G. went to Wichita Falls, TX and worked for rodeo stock producers, Goat Mayo and Bill Lyons. He rodeoed for two years. He joined the Navy and served aboard USS Cony patrolling both coasts of North Korea; crossed the International Date Line, the equator, sailed through the Suez Canal and crossed the Arctic Circle. He crossed the Pacific once and Atlantic Oceans three times. After his stint in the Navy, he applied to Texas A&M College and majored in Veterinary Medicine. He rodeoed on the Texas A&M rodeo team for 3 years. After graduation, he went into private practice in Dayton, TX for Seven and a half years.

A.G. went to work as the veterinarian for the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) in Sugar Land, Texas. He retired from TDC in 1989. He and his wife Net, moved to Leakey, TX. He joined the Leakey Lions Club and the Leakey American Legion. He was on the Board of Directors for the Lions Club for many years. In 1999, A.G. was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy’s Hall of Fame and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2000.

A.G. was preceded in death by his wife Nettie Ollre, his parents Albert George Ollre Jr. and Anna Elizabeth Ollre; his sister and her husband Anna and Bert Noack, and his brother and his wife David Eugene and Dorothy Ollre; his son Albert George “Chip” Ollre IV.

A.G. is survived by two sons and their wives, L. Guiton and Donna Ragsdale, Channon and Kalynn Ollre, and daughter-in-law Priscilla Ollre. Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law John and Ruby Brigman of Uvalde, Leslie and Rosie Hobbs of Rosenberg.

A.G. always had a hunger for what the bible said, he went on the Walk to Emmaus, the 100,000,000 Man Promise Keepers March in Washington, D.C. and he went to Israel and renewed his baptism in the Jordan River in 1993. He finally found a gifted bible teacher on satellite TV that helped fulfill his hunger for open eyes and ears.

A.G.’s first love was Christianity thru The Word of God resulting in attending yearly Christian Passover Meetings and Fall Fellowship meetings since 1993. His second love was his family and especially his 9 grandchildren and his great grandchildren, which he called the rewards of life. He loved his Country and Texas A&M University.

There will be two celebrations of life for A.G. and wife Nettie. The first one is June 5, 2021 at the American Legion Hall in Leakey, Texas. The second one is July 31, 2021 at the Swinging Door in Richmond.
