Rock n’ Roller, Backyard Botanist, BBQ Pitmaster, Arm Chair Quarterback, and Registered Nurse are among a few of the titles Jaime L. Rodriguez held, but none were more revered by him than the titles of was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, husband, tio ,Brother-In-Law, and fatherUncle. In essence Jaime was a family man, and although he passed away on May 14, 2021, in Houston, Texas, , at the age of sixty-eight, he his love for his family lives on in the hearts of those he had the honor of calling his family.

He was born August 2, 1952, in Fort Luipton, Colorado to Joaquin R. Rodriguez and Isabell L. Rodriguez and soon thereafter moved to Texas. As Jaime often quipped, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could.” but fortunately they got baby Jaime to Texas as soon as possible. Although that was the day he was born, anyone who knew Jaime knew understood his life really began in 1976 when he met the love of his life his future wife of forty-one years, Alice C. Rodriguez, in Corpus Christi. , his wife Alice C. Rodriguez in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together they were blessed with two children, their daughter Raquel and son Joaquin. Jaime also had the distinction of being the middle child to his siblings: Joaquin, Mario, Nora, and Hector.

Jaime had a life filed with rock concerts, family events, BBQ cookouts, and moments enjoying the great outdoors. Growing up in Uvalde, Texas, Jaime’s fondest childhood memories of his childhood were of going swimming at in the Nueces River with his parents and siblings. Jaime prided himself on being the middle child to his siblings whom he loved and admired: Joaquin, Mario, Nora, and Hector . After high school, Jaime moved to Austin, Texas to attend the University of Texas at Austin, ,receiving his B.A. in Psychology in 1976. and in addition to attending classes, Jaime was active in the Chicano Movement and made sure to go to as many rock concerts as possible.. Upon graduating from the University of UT-Austin Texas, Jaime earned his Associate in Applied Science in Registered Nurse Education at Del Mar College and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University of Texas. eventually, he made his way to Houston, Texas, spending his entire career working for the Harris County Hospital District, impacting the lives of his patients and their families. to pursue his career as a registered nurse. Jaime had a thirst for adventure and found great joy and excitement in traveling. In retirement, He Jaime and Alice were able to continued this passion with his wife in retirement, seeing national monuments and attractions in their RV. They realize their longtime desire to travel and see the United States and beyond. Jaime always had a thirst for adventure, and found great joy and excitement in traveling the US state to state, with his wife in their RV, seeing national monuments and attractions. also Jaime and Alice enjoyed going on cruises, and were able traveling to travel to Alaska, Hawaii, and Central and South America. Jaime also found peace and relaxation in retirement. He could would often be spend his time found in the backyard, tending to his plants, or sitting in the garage, with the garage door open, loudly and proudly playing his music – anything from Jefferson Airplane to Los Tigres del Norte.

Jaime loved to spend time outside the great outdoors, and preferably with his family. His favorite memories were those of camping and spending time with family at Garner State Park and the Frio River. These Texas landmarks were near and dear to his heart because they evoked happy childhood memories for him, and he was able to create new memories with his family. . He enjoyed going swimming with his children , and nieces, and nephews at in the Frio River;, BBQing barbequing with his brothers-in-law;, and spending the evenings around a campfire laughing about old stories. Garner State Park and the Frio River was a place that were near and dear to his heart. It was place that evoked happy childhood memories for him, and it was place he was able to create memories of joy with his wife, children and family.

Jaime’s family was his world , and Family was the most important thing to Jaime; it was his joy and his support. Although Jaime has left us, physically, he lives on in our the hearts of those he loved so dearly and in our shared memories of moments of joy with him. We celebrate Jaime’s life by sharing happy stories of how he lived his life and the people he impacted. All of those who loved him will never forget his love, charm, tenacity, wit, and his undying love and care for them.
