Stuart Charles Meyers

Stuart Charles Meyers, age 82, passed away peacefully on the 27th of April 2021 in The Woodlands, Texas after a long battle with dementia. He was a loving and committed, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved God, and he liked to remind everyone that we are all God's children. Stuart was loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Stuart was born on the 16th of October 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. He spent his early years living in Illinois and Indiana. Stuart was the oldest of three kids and he helped care for and protect is younger siblings. He attended the University of Denver for a year, then decided to join the Army. He served in the 101st Airborne division for four years and chose to get a 101st Airborne tattoo on his left shoulder to show is pride in serving. 

Upon returning to civilian life, he became a typewriter salesman for Olivetti based in New York. Eventually he earned a finance degree from the University of Houston. Stuart was a born salesman who enjoyed talking with anyone. One of his favorite sayings was, "you will never get, if you do not ask." These skills helped in his longest serving job as a sales representative for the family company, Oil City Iron Works based in Corsicana, Texas. Stuart was one of the first residents of The Woodlands and early member of The Woodlands Country Club. 

He was an avid golfer who played golf courses from Texas to Hawaii. He was proud to be one of the 20% that made a hole in one, and at 72, he shot his "age". When anyone, anywhere reached out to Stuart for help, he was there. He was active member and joyful servant of AA, where he enjoyed the gift of sobriety for the last 37 years of his life.

Stuart is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Betty; children: Andrea Radcliffe and husband Kris; Melinda Brieger and husband, Scott; Scott Pagan; his grandchildren: Hayden and Charlotte Radcliffe; Zoe, Ava, and Scotty Brieger; his brother Eric Meyers and wife, Jean, and family.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Doris Meyers, and his sister, Marcia Swanstrom.

A memorial and celebration of Stuart's life will be conducted at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, on the 28th of May in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to the reception in Aldersgate Hall.
