Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas's 15th district issued a statement after voting to pass the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, which ended the 43-day government shutdown. The act funds the government at current levels through January 30, 2026, and provides appropriations for programs such as SNAP, military, and Veterans Affairs through fiscal year 2026.
"After 43 days of the shutdown, I voted to reopen the government, restore SNAP for millions of families, pay our federal workers, and invest over $6 million in our Texas communities. It's time to get back to our work on the priorities of the American people, including expanding affordable housing options and making life more affordable again," said Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz.
De La Cruz also secured funding for several community projects in her district: $2.45 million for the City of Alamo Public Safety Building, $3.25 million for the Live Oak County Public Safety Facility, and $1 million for the City of Premont Water Well Revitalization.
Monica De La Cruz is currently serving in Congress after replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won election victories over Michelle Vallejo in both 2022 and 2024 with majorities of approximately 53% and 57%, respectively.
